Facebook sharing /
The Facebook sharing test checks to see how much (if at all) the pages of a website have been shared, liked and commented on in Facebook.
Why do we test for this?
The amount of activity about a website on Facebook, and other forms of social media, is a major factor in how well a website is marketed.
How do we test for this?
For each of the pages we test, we check to see how many times it has been shared, liked and commented on in Facebook.
- In this context, a like is when someone shares one of the website's pages on their own wall, usually via a like button on the website.
- A share is when someone copy and pastes the address of a page onto somebody elses wall in a wall post.
- A comment is classed as a Facebook comment on either of the above.
What can I do about it?
If appropriate for your website, encourage visitors to share the pages of your website by strategically worded messages. You could also add a Facebook like button.
